February Volunteer for Fire Mitigation

February volunteer work day for fire mitigation:

  • Second volunteer work day is Saturday February 22nd. -Time is 10 am to 1 pm.
  • We will meet at the South end of Hampton Run. -The goal, for now, is to continue doing fire mitigation on the sides of Hampton Run.

Lunch will be provided. We are open for assistance with lunch if anyone would like to help but can not do the physical labor.

We recommend that you wear sturdy clothing, boots and gloves. Preferably layers as you will warm up as you work. Please bring a handsaw and or a chainsaw if you have it.

The Fire Committee has been working with a Forester by the name of Adam Moore. One of Adams suggestions, for better fire safety, was that we create firebreaks in our community. By doing fire mitigation on each side of our roads, we will increase the effectiveness of these roads as firebreaks. This would also make it safer for the fire fighters trying to defend our community.

If you can help, or know anyone you think might be interested in helping, please let me know as soon as possible.

My hope is to create a volunteer workday each month. I have other obligations that will keep me from this in March and April. If anyone else can help put a workday together for March or April, it would be appreciated.

At the last volunteer work day, on January 26th, we accomplished a lot. I want to thank everyone that came that day and gave a helping hand. ;-)
