The Zapata Homeowners Association held their Annual Meeting on Saturday, August 7. Here are some of the highlights from this meeting:
Voting Section of By Laws:
- Discussions were held about the proposed changes to the voting section of the current Bylaws under Article II Members.
- After concerns voiced involving low voting participation by ZHA Members, a move was made to table amending the By laws voting section at this time
- 33 members voted in favor, no votes against. Motion was carried.
Board Members:
- New board members include John Clark and Erin Smith;
- Reelected members include Jerry Grandey and Jim Jones
- Joe Funk and Jack Zeman carried over from the current Board.
Accomplishments from last year:
Jack voiced that he felt the board members had worked well together over the last year and provided some highlights of the Boards accomplishments. These include:
- Initiated an on-going plan to identify and access the subdivision greenbelts and began fire mitigation efforts on these greenbelts.
- Members were encouraged to collect dead and downed trees in these greenbelts areas for personal use.
- A relationship has been established with State Forester, Jeff Burns who will be an excellent grant money source both for the ZHA and for individual property owners enabling compliance of the county wide Community Wildfire Protection Plan.
- Fuel breaks have also begun along fire evacuation routes on the subdivision.

Updates and reports for each of the following committees were addressed at the Annual Meeting: Architecture, Communication, Fees & Budget, Fire, Governance, Physical Improvements, Water and Welcome.
