Zapata Zepher Fall 2010
Jim Jones, John Clark, Joe Funk and Jack Zeman met with the principals of the Engineering firm Crabtree Group from Salida, Colorado at the upper lake on Tuesday, September 21.
They examined the upper lake, the terminus of the South Zapata Pipeline and the Augmentation sight of Blanca Place.
After lengthy discussions about the events of this summer that led to the State shutting down the lake, it was agreed upon with the engineers that the first thing that would be needed would be to perform a seepage test to determine how much water was escaping from under the dam.
From there, it will be determined what corrective action should be taken, if any at all is warranted.
A Contract for Civil Engineering Services was signed to first perform the initial assessments of the dam and to give them permission to act as Zapata’s representative with Water Division 3. This was done for the purposes of obtaining the necessary approval to fill the lake and then to determine the amount of seepage coming from the lake.
